Animal A B C On A Budget
Whilst reading Perry Nodelman's book on the Pleasures of Children's Literature (2003), I read something significant: 'In the process of immersion and language, alphabet books are not much more significant than any other experiences with books and written language. So if alphabet books don't play a central role in teaching language skills, should they simply be eliminated? Our answer is no--because they offer pleasure.' page 298.
I took this as inspiration to create a totally unique and extremely (un)necessary A B C book. Which might not allow for the immersion in langauge skills that other books offer, but may allow the reader find pleasure in the A B C's. Good news is that I found pleasure in it already.
